John Weate
John is the Head of the Criminal Department and has worked in all aspects of the Criminal Justice System for over 50 years. He is an established and experienced Higher Court Advocate and can be found daily in the Crown Court as well as covering Magistrates’ Court cases and representing clients in the police station. On occasion he has also appeared before the Court of Appeal and been instrumental in setting new precedents in the law. He is a well-regarded Solicitor amongst his peers and Judges and brings a calming presence when dealing with his clients. His enthusiasm for the job as not dulled over the years and his attention to detail means that the clients he represents receive the best advice possible. When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and tasting good Irish Whiskey.
John has been recognised as runner up on two separate occasions at the Law Society Legal Aid Lawyer of the year awards in the Crime category.
