After qualifying in 1998, Helen became a member of the Law Society Children Law Panel, representing parents, carers, and children in all aspects of Care and Supervision proceedings. Helen also undertakes complex private Children Law cases representing parents and children, together with Adoption and Special Guardianship cases. Helen is an Accredited All issues family mediator and is also trained in Child Inclusive mediation, often able to assist mediation clients with the benefit of legal aid.

Barbara Crawford-Jones

Barbara Crawford-Jones LLB (Hons)


Barbara qualified as a solicitor in 1994 after graduating from the University of Liverpool in 1991 with LLB (Hons) and completing her Solicitor Examinations at the College of Law York in 1992. 

A member of the Law Society Children Panel, Barbara is experienced in all aspects of injunctions, financial and children's matters.

More recently Barbara has specialised in public law children work, her cases have included sudden infant death, Fabricate and Induced Illness, non-accidental injuries and sexual abuse. Barbara’s expertise includes representing clients with learning disabilities and working alongside Court appointed Intermediaries to assist such clients during the process of giving evidence.

Barbara enjoys undertaking her own advocacy in the family Courts representing parents and children and prides herself on her professional yet approachable style and ability to guide clients through what are often complex proceedings. Barbara represents parents, grandparents and other parties such as intervenors and prospective Special Guardians. In addition, through her Children Panel membership, Barbara is approved to represent children.

Jonathan Roberts

Jonathan Roberts LLB


Jonathan moved to the Family Department in 2016 having joined RMNJ in the Prison Law Department, where he represented many clients at Parole Board Hearings.

Now working largely in the area of assisting clients prior to and during Care Proceedings, Jonathan is also an affiliate member of Resolution.
